The aims of the Trust are:
- To retain, house and display items of whatever nature that have influenced the development of the Village and Parish of Peterculter over the years.
- To advance the education of the local residents in the area concerning its past connections with agriculture, the railways, the paper mill and many other relevant activities.
- To promote and provide a local facility for educational, social, or other activities that will assist residents or visitors to the area.

The Trust is governed by constitution. This was adopted in 1999 and revised in 2002 & 2007.
An Annual General Meeting is held, each year in November, to which Members are welcome. The Chair presents a report on the previous year's proceedings; The Treasurer gives an annual Report and Statement of Finances and an Independent Financial Adviser is appointed. Reports on Membership, the running of the Museum and the operation of Heritage Hall are also given.
