Home Up

ALTHOUGH Christmas and the Holy Nights are past and we are in a New Year, I would still like to thank all of you who visited Camphill on our Open Day day back in September. You will recall that we were raising money for a sensory garden which was being constructed in Camphill Estate. More than £1,000 was raised which has gone a long way towards us making the garden a reality. During the winter months the pupils and their helpers were busy building the form of the garden and creating the base of the path that will wind its way through it. This work will continue with renewed effort this term and our hope is that day the coming September, when we hold our next Open Day, the garden will be at least partly resplendent in its beauty and that many will have benefited from having their senses enhanced through their senses of touch, sound, sight and smell.

Good to report too is the increase we are experiencing in referrals, not only for younger school pupils, but also for our fully integrated nursery. We are now flexible and able to take children for part of the day, the whole day, during the week as day pupils or as weekly or full boarders.

Finally I wonder if any of you were able to see the BBC2 Digital production 'Inside Scotland' early in December. The series depicted communities throughout Scotland and had the one referred to above on Camphill Communities. We were very pleased with the outcome and hope that it will be shown on terrestrial BBC2 in the near future.
