Matters Arising: 4.7.2 — Riverbank and Railway Walk: improvements are marvellous. Parts of the banks, which had been in a dangerous condition, have been repaired. Mr David Grant (ACC) has proved a good friend to Culter and the attention from Mr Richard Nicholson (ACC) also has been greatly appreciated. It was agreed to take ‘Correspondence’ at this point, as there were several important issues to be discussed. 5. CORRESPONDENCE 5.1 Remembrance Sunday: Invitation to attend official City ceremony at Cowdray Hall. Lavina and Ann to attend. Sam and Jim to attend Culter ceremony. 5.2 Calor Gas Competition: Callum Stewart to be contacted. It was Callum’s efforts, which gained a ‘commended’ certificate for us last year. 5.3 Freedom of Information (circulated to members & discussed at next meeting) 5.4 Local Government Bill “ “ “ “ “ 5.5 State of 5.6 Neighbourhood Boundaries (West Lasts etc. to remain in Culter) 5.7 What do we want to see in our Community? 5.7.1 First Stage — what is feasible? 5.7.2 Wish to list to be prepared 5.7.3 Open meeting perhaps on 17 September in Village Hall. 5.8 Young People in Community
Councils: meeting on 5.9 Civic Forum: anything, city-wide, that CCC thinks should be discussed. 5.10 Role of Schools: lack of
community facilities in 5.11 aberdeenfutures: All together better. Have you heard about this programme? 5.12 Scottish Executive (via ACC): Pilot Scheme —up against apathy/cynicism. 5.13 Neighbourhood Community Planning Officer (Catherine Dove): would like to attend next meeting of CCC. Perhaps available for open meeting? 4. REPORTS 4:1 POLICE (Graeme Stewart) 4.1.1 Kevin McKenzie is now stationed at Hazlehead. 4.1.2 Alisdair McHardy is new constable at Culter office but is on holiday this week. 4.1.3 Housebreaking: Two incidents — Craigton Road & Malcolm Road 4.1.4 Vandalisms: Two reports
— house in 4.1.5 Youth incidents: Four persons arrested for various crimes and offences and a warrant issued for the arrest of a fifth. Incidents involving youths have
become more serious over the past two months. Several youths are currently on
Bail and are fully aware of the consequences of gathering at Alldays & Oriel
Terrace and There was much discussion about the problems facing residents of Culter, mainly because of youth behaviour. 4.1.6 Parking in Culter: Lack of parking spaces and illegal parking are main factors. 4.2 CITY COUNCILLOR (Pam McDonald) 4.2.1 Complaints about youth incidents (taken under Police Report) 4.2.2 Zebra Crossing: boards behind lights would be beneficial. 4.2.3 Brown Bins: more of these are to be made available. 4.2.4 Towerview Shops: both of these are empty but require boarding up. 4.2.5 The Paddock: residents are concerned about water level. At least one tree blocking flow of water down stream. 4.3 TREASURER (Nicola Hector) 4.3.1 CCC was asked to sponsor a race at Gala Race Night. Agreed. 4.3.2 Office bearers (and other members of CCC) should be requesting payment for out-of- pocket expenses. 4.3.4 CCC a/c: £766.63
(Secretary’s expenses still to be deducted) Courier a/c £1,303.18 ( Gala a/c £3,202.29 (Payments: £159.20 to ACC for let of school field & £ 30 to Red Cross for Gala Day) 4.3.1 COURIER (Marjory Skinner) 4.4.1 Increase of postage because of bigger Courier 4.4.2 One or two advertisements fewer this time — mainly because lack of contact by editor! • However changes in others means ‘profit’ is much the same, bearing in mind that the • aim basically is to cover expenses of producing the Courier and this we do. 4.4.3 Thanks again to Ann and her distribution team. 4.3.2 GALA (Ann Wakefield) 4.5.1 Gymkhana to take place at Strawberry Grange, Woodend Farm. 4.5.2 Race Night in Village Hall on Friday 26 September to be followed by Disco. 4.6 PLANNING (Lavina Massie) 4.6.1 Golf Club: mechanic’s hut — no opposition to this from CCC. 4.6.2 Brighton Place (Carry-out shop): site visit took place and decision was deferred until ‘noise’ group consider. 4.6.3 West Lasts: application has been refused 4.6.4 Culter House: this has gone to appeal so Public Enquiry will take place. 4.6.5 242 N D R (next to former Gordon Arms Hotel): application for another house on this site has been refused. 4.6.6 Standish Cottage: original conditions to apply. (road repairs & trees) 4.6.7 Hilton Farm: application for three houses passed on condition Scottish Executive approves. Road will have to be properly built up. 6. A.O.C.B. 6.1 Ann passed on the name and address of a potential member for CCC: No-one else had any possibilities. 6.2 Bridge at Anguston: repair work more involved than first anticipated. 6.3 Resident’s wife being intimidated by youths outside main shops in Culter. 6.4 Welcome back to Lavina after her seven weeks holiday!
