NEWSLETTER: August 2003

Ahead of our fourth AG.M. on Tuesday 16 September, it is time to update you on the progress of the Trust Although we are in very good shape, there is still lots to be done to improve our facilities in the centre itself and the hall and plans are in hand to achieve this.

One exciting project in the pipeline just now is the production of a short video about the Paper Mill. Doug Stewart has some film of the mill and with the help of Bill Simpson and others he is converting these to video tape and this could be run in the Centre.

The plans for the improvements in the hall have been approved and the work is now out to tender. Thanks are due to the Hall committee, led by   John Troup , much has been done. The most significant development in the hall has been the afternoon teas served each Saturday and Sunday These have been a big success and have made a very large contribution to our finances. This has been due to the generosity and commitment of the team of friends who give their time and effort to provide this service. A big thank you to them all. The letting of the hall is reasonable but we would like a few more — contact John Troup on 732701 and tell your friends.

The next date for your diary is an “Evening of Music and Verse’ on Friday l2th September at 7.3opm featuring the poems of Allan Pennie and the late Johnnie Clark. Entry will be by ticket only and these are available from any member of the committee or Sheila Grant on 732651 We look forward to seeing you at what promises an enjoyable night .The AGM on 16 September at 7.3Opm will be an opportunity for all members to be brought up to date with all aspect of the trust’s work.

Finally our most grateful thanks to all who work tirelessly for the Heritage Centre a very worthwhile and lasting project for the people of Peterculter.

THANK YOU.
