THE CULTERNET FAMILY TREE

There are many services on line now which will help you in finding about your past.  For official documentation, the main resource is the "one-stop" Scotland's People" where you can access parish records, census and civil registration from your computer. "Scottish Documents" can also be a fascinating source of information from Wills and Testaments. If you find an anscestor there you are able to see how much they left- and who got it!  Both of these operate on a "buy credits" basis which at present is around £6 for 30 credits. Accessing indexes will cost you one credit; a page image,5 credits. However, there are many free resources which you can access. "Familysearch" can reveal Old Parish Record and the 1881 Census with an easy search engine.  CulterNET has been involved in transcribing the 1841 Peterculter census- and currently working on the 1851 census. These can be found at "FREECEN".

I hope the CulterNET Family Tree will inspire you in furthering your own research. Please respect our own researchers, and all those from around the world who have added their branches to the tree, by using the information  for your own personal use only. For any individual who is likely to be living, you will see only a name - no personal details. I am always pleased to pass on any connections you find and get you in touch with your long lost Culter relatives. Happy searching!
