1st Rd Emirates Scottish Junior Cup — Bellshill Athletic 0 Culter 4 (at F-ullarton Park, Tollcross, Glasgow)
HT: 0—0. Culter Scorers: Allan Youngson 49, Chris Ogboke 50, George McBain 75, Martin Shand 77 Saturday 3 October 2009. We had a couple of setbacks on departure. kip Mckenzie was unable
to attend due to a most unfortunate incident on Friday night. Supporter Alan Duncan went in for a newspaper and missed our special bus! Alan then boarded a service bus in the hope of catching up with our bus in Aberdeen but this was unsuccessful. In the absence of Kip we had a problem with reporting as our usual deputy reporters had other commitments and were unable to provide their normal account of the game. Deputy Gus Johnstone, however, phoned the following details.
In the 2 minute Culter had strong claims for a penalty when McBain appeared to be fouled in the box but the Referee waved play on. In the 7th minute Tullis missed a one to one opportunity with only Goalkeeper Mcintosh to beat. After 14 minutes had been played a Shand header then an Ogboke shot on the turn went just past as Culter started to take control. In 16 minutes McBain went on a surging run from just outside his own half but his parting shot rose narrowly over the bar. In the 28th minute Mcintosh pulled off a great diving save to stop a wind-assisted Livingstone free kick. Goalkeeper Mather then had a fine one handed save to deny a Garioch volley. Half Time: 0 —0.

Culter got off to the perfect start after the interval when a 4gth minute Stott shot was well saved by Mather but the ball fell back into the path of winger Stott and he crossed for YOUNGSON who headed home. One minute later a Youngson free kick from 35 yards hit the crossbar and rebounded to OGBOKE who tapped the ball into the net. Tullis then looked likely to score but was denied by a last gasp challenge by Garioch. Next minute after a mazy run Wyman finished with a shot-cumcross which flashed across the face of goal. Mcintosh then pulled off two saves in a minute as the home team pressed to get back into the game. Cameron then had a great chance but somehow managed to blast over from a few feet out. in the 75’ minute McBAIN latched on to a long ball, rounded two defenders then the ‘keeper and slid it into the net to make it 3— 0. In the 77th minute a McBain cross was met by SHAND whose looping header drifted into the far corner of the net.
