Half Time: 1 — 0. Culter Scorers: Chris Ogboke 29, Martin Shand 49 and 57 (penalty)

Saturday 26 September 2009. On a remarkably warm sunny September afternoon there was a good turnout for this Deeside Derby. We also had Press coverage from Richard Easton of the Evening Express and Danny Law of the Deeside Piper and look forward to reading their accounts of our Cup Tie. Our own reporter Kip Mckenzie, however, called off at the last minute through a bad attack of the ‘flu and Gus Johnstone kindly deputised. We hope Kip feels better by tomorrow (his Birthday ).

Culter progressed into the 2nd round of the Regional Cup with a well deserved victory over their Superleague neighbours but it was Carrol who was first to try his luck for the away team with a 20 yard volley in the 5th minute that Mcintosh saved with ease. Ogboke then had a header just over the bar and his shot on the turn was just wide of the post as Culter took control. Good play by Youngson set up Shand but his first time shot was well saved by the legs of Sim. Stainer stole the ball off Kelly and fed the ball to Ogston but his shot produced a smart Save from Mcintosh. Culter finally produced a goal their play deserved in the 29th minute. Smith fed the ball to Chris OGBOKE who turned his marker brilliantly before smashing the ball past Sim. McKimmie and Shand both shot just past from wide positions before Mcintosh was again called into action just before the interval with saves from Carrol and Stainer. Half Time: I - 0

Carrol crossed for McRae to head wide but Culter went straight up the park and doubled their advantage. Good wing play from Donald ended with a low driven cross that was tapped home in the 49th minute by Martin SHAND. Lewis Shand blasted over and Donald denied Carrol with a great block as the away team tried to get back into the game. In the 57th minute the tie was over when Culter was awarded a soft penalty when Ogboke went down in the box after a challenge by Moir. It was left to Martin SHAND to step up and blast the ball home from the 12 yard spot. Sim made a great save from Youngson’s powerful shot and McBain shot wide after side stepping a couple of defenders. Home blasted the bail over from 18 yards in the final minutes but it was left to Ogboke to leave Galashan’s legs in knots before supplying a cross for Stott whose volley screamed high over the bar.
