Quarter Final Grill League Cup — Ellon United 1 Culter 2 (at The Meadows, Ellon) H-T 0-0
Scorers: Elton United — Matty Edmond (46 minutes),
Culter — Ryan Stott 58 minutes) and Chris Ogboke (81 minutes)

Saturday 5 September 2009. An under strength Culter team progressed against Elton United at The Meadows to set up a mouth watering clash with Sunnybank in the Semi Finals of the Grill Cup.
In 10 minutes the first action of the game should have resulted in a goal for Culter as a corner was fired in but nobody could get on the end of it. Then it was Elton’s turn to have a go at goal but Cameron Bruce fired wide. Culter were tested again in the 29th minute as Matty Edmond flicked the ball on to Lewis Duguid who headed wide. Half Time: 0 — 0.
Culter made the worst possible start in the second half as Matty Edmond lobbed the stranded Culter custodian after a bout of heading tennis in the Culter box to make it 1- 0 for Elton. In 58 minutes Greg Donald fired a raking crossfield ball which found Ryan Stott who headed over the United ‘keeper to level the score at I — 1. Culter then substituted the impressive Martin Shand for Chris Ogboke who was booked inside two minutes on the field. Culter had another chance five minutes later but Smith was denied by a last ditch tackle. In the 81st minute Culter scored what would prove to be the winner when another tong searching pass from Donald found Chris Ogboke who calmly drilled the ball into the back of the net.
