Wednesday 19 August 2009. The first Deeside Derby of the season ended even in a game that Culter should have won based on chances.

The first half was a scrappy affair with both teams’ creating little in front of goal. The only real save of the half was made by the away keeper when he tipped over Youngson’s 25 yard free kick. Half Time: 0 — 0.
After 48 minutes had been played the game burst into life when the inrushing MeBain headed Stott’s corner just wide and moments later a Robertson pile-driver had the Banchory ‘keeper saving at full stretch. Youngson then warmed the ‘keeper’s hands with a stinging shot. In the 66tn minute the Culter bench made a double substitution with Foster and Mountford replacing McBain and Wyness. Barry FOSTER went straight on to the park to bullet home a Youngson corner with his first touch. Minutes later Cooper volleyed a shot off the upright before Foster played in Youngson who slipped the ball past the ‘keeper only to see it rebound off the post. Banchory pressed for the equaliser and in 88 minutes Stainer’s shot from 8 yards was saved by the legs of Farquhar. In the last minute a free kick for Banchory outside the box ended with a goalmouth scramble with the ball falling kindly to No 10 who slotted the ball home from inside the 6 yard box for a last gasp leveller.

Saturday 22 August 2009. Rarely at this level of football have a team dominated so much and came away with nothing. The Deesiders left Longside ruing a barrowload of first half missed chances and a failed penalty attempt.
Culter started well with Hugh Robertson prominent and he produced a good knock back for Allan Smith but he shot weakly at Mike Thomson. Moments later Hugh Robertson and Allan Youngson combined to set up Chris Mountford but his rising drive flashed just over. With only 9 minutes on the clock Chris Mountford should have put the visitors in front but he missed an absolute sitter with all the time in the world. The same player had a golden opportunity from an Allan Youngson free kick soon after but he contrived to head over from good position. Allan Smith was next to try his luck as Culter camped in the Longside half but he blasted over the bar before Ryan Stott hit the bar with a good header. There then followed a series weird offside decisions before a neat move involving Hugh Robertson and Allan Youngson culminated in Chris Mountford back heeling wide of target. Chris Mountford spurned a great opportunity on the half hour mark but Mike Thomson saved, not for the first time. with his feet. In a rare foray forward Longside had a chance following poor defending but Ben Danton shot well wide. Chris Mountford was sinner again when he missed two great chances just before half time and Hugh Robertson also failed to find the target when clean through. Half Time: 0 — 0. The second period saw the same pattern as Culter stormed forward time and again with chances galore being missed before Richard Wyness replaced Hugh Robertson and the sub set up Chris Mountford with his first touch but you know the story by now. There then was a double substitution as Chris Cameron came on for Muir Murray for the home side and Barry Foster replaced Ryan Stott for the Deesiders. The inevitable happened a minute later when Chris Cameron rifled home with his first touch. Straight from the restart Martin Shand replaced Chris Mountford as Culter sought to get something from the game and Cohn Craik should have done better than blaze over from a Greig Donald pass. The visitors then had two strong penalty claims turned down but in the last minute Martin Shand was bundled over in the area but Allan Youngson fired the spot kick wide of the mark to complete a miserable afternoon for Culter.
