Turriff's Third Time

Superleague Saturday 7 March 2009: Turriff United 3 Culter 1
Half Time I — 0 (at the Haughs Turriff)

Highland League bound Turriff United are proving a bogey team this season. Out of the 5 games Culter have lost this season three of them have been against Turriff United! Culter met Turriff United at The Haughs in the opening game of the season and made a good start by beating them 2 — 1 in Section 5 of the Grill League Cup on Saturday 2 August 2008. In our next encounter at Crombie Park we went down 3—2 in the 1st Round of the GA Engineering NorthTayside Inter-Regional Cup on Saturday 13 September 2008. We then lost to them in the Quarter Final of the Grill Cup, also at Crombie Park, on penalties after it ended 1 — 1 on Saturday 11 October 2008. Our defeat yesterday completed Turriff’s hat-trick.

Ian’s Illness. Unfortunately our Reporter Ian ‘Kip’ Mckenzie turned ill yesterday at Turriff and spent most of the afternoon asleep on our bus. In the absence of deputy reporter Gus Johnstone and the unexpected turn of events, there is no match report this week.

On the wet afternoon at Turriff we were trailed by the only goal of the first half then went further behind when Turrift scored from a dubious penalty. Turriff extended their lead to 3 — 0 and Lewis McKimmie netted a late consolation goal to make the final score 3 -1. It was a disappointing result for our last visit to The Haughs before Turriff United join the Highland League.

Our best wishes go to lan for a speedy recovery.
