Past Performance. Our 3rd Round Tie which we lost 2 — 0 at Newlandsfield
Park, Glasgow on 6 January 1990 was well covered in the local Press before and
after the match. The pre-match article was headed “Warning Shot for Pollok” and
is reproduced below. There were two match reports with action photos — in the
Eastwood Mercury and the Glasgow South and Eastwood Extra. The former’s report
is also copied, was headed “Oh! So Close” and started “Pollok reached the last
32 of the OVD Scottish Cup as a result of this win against Culter at
Newlandsfieid, but they’ll be glad to have got this game out of their system”.
Culter players in the Extra photo are from left to right Millar Kennedy, Gus
Johnstone, Paul Thomson and Eric Shearer.
Gale Gives Game Go-by. The gale force winds caused the postponement of
our Superleague game due yesterday against Lewis United. Referee Martin Johnston
decided about half an hour before kick off was due that the match could not be
played in these conditions. The strong winds were reputed to have gusts reaching
up to 70 mph! It is the first time I can recall a Culter game being postponed
due to adverse wind conditions.

Diary Date. Our 23rd Celebrity Dinner will take place on Friday 14
November 2008 at Menzies Dyce Aberdeen Airport Hotel. Guest Speakers will be
Peter Lorimer, ex-Leeds United/Scotland and Brian McGinlay, renowned ex-Referee
whilst the Compere extraordinaire will again be Peter Mitchell. A minibus for
the Cutter contingent will depart from the Malcolm Road lay-by at 6.15 p.m. and
a special bus for the Aberdeen contingent will depart from The Seafield Club at
6.30 p.m. The Function is timed at 7.15 for 7.45 p.m. Dress is informal. Names
