Turriff started well and McLeod hit the post in only the 4th minute from 6
yards when it was easier to score but in the next minute they took the lead.
Garioch handled in the box and James BROWNIE stepped up to send Farquhar the
wrong way from the spot. A Hugh Robertson pass found Stott who ran at the
Turriff defence before blasting the ball just past the post. Minutes later
Stott had another blast from an identical position but Buchanan somehow
finger tipped the ball out for a corner. In 23 minutes Wilson’s hopefully
free kick fell to Hugh Robertson who stroked the ball past Buchanan but
Mckinnon raced back in time to hoof the ball off the line then Youngson
volleyed Stott’s corner just over. A Hugh Robertson free kick in the 43rd
minute was fumbled by the away keeper into the path of Craik who couldn’t
force the ball home but in the next minute the score was level when Cohn
CRAIK popped up in the 6 yard box to flick home with his right foot a
terrific Sim cross.
Half Time: 1 - 1
Two minutes into the half Turriff were in front again. McDonald flicked on a
corner to Jamie McKINNON who was left unmarked at the back post to head home
from close range. In the 53rd minute Culter were level again in spectacular
style, McKimmie was fouled 25 yards out and Hugh ROBERTSON stepped up to
send an unstoppable shot into the top corner of the net. Farquhar did well
to save an Allan shot with his feet and then the home ‘keeper brilliantly
palmed over a McLeod rocket minutes later. In 67 minutes a Duncan shot was
deflected into the path of Keith REID who despite the claims for offside
from the home defence calmly poked the ball past Farquhar. Culter pressed
for an equaliser but failed to break down a stubborn Turriff rearguard and
their misery was complete in the 84th minute when Adam Wilson was shown red
for a second bookable offence.

Scone Scores. As reported last week Culter have been drawn to play
Scone at Scone in the 151 Round of the Scottish Junior Cup on Saturday 4
October 2008. I also advised that in the 1st Round of the Concept
Group Inter Regional Cup on Saturday 30 October 1999 we beat them 5 — 1 at
Crombie Park. We also played them at Culter on Saturday 8 February 2003 in
the 1/4 Final of the Inter Regional Cup but this time we lost 2 — 1. We
trailed 2 — 0 when Neil McRitchie hammered home an unstoppable volley with
time running out and almost sent the tie into extra time when a Peter
Stewart shot cannoned off the post and away to safety. Our team that
afternoon was: Buckley, Thain,
Rattray, Collie, Small, Calder, Smith, Cameron, McRitchie, Brown, Davidson
Subs: Stewart, Morrison, Lawrence.
