Tuesday 22 April 2008 — Rainbow International Superleague East End 0 v
Culter 0 (at New Advocates Park, Aberdeen) Rintoul was the first to try
his luck with a 25 yarder that whizzed over the bar. Knox then
brilliantly palmed away a Wyness free kick. Shand should have done
better than head the ball weakly into Cameron’s arms before Knox could
only watch as Elliot’s free kick fror the edge of the box skimmed by the
post. On the half hour mark a mix up in the Culter defence left Wyness
in the clear but again he shot wide. Walker then combined with Wyness
but his close range shot was well blocked by the legs of Knox. Half
Time: 0 — 0. Culter got off to the worst possible start in the second
half when Pressley upended Spalding in the box in the 48 minute but to
their relief Paul Yeats shot past the post from the penalty spot. This
spurred on the away team with Shand and Rattray heading over from close
range. Culter were now in total control of the game with Sim, Adam and
then Craik all having efforts that failed to find the targel In 86
minutes Spalding received his marching orders for a second yellow before
Ord headed agonising over the bar in the last minutc There was still
time for Adam Wilson to head for an early shower in injury time as he
also was sent off for a second yellow. East End: Cameron, Keith, Wilson,

Thursday 24 April 2008 — Rainbow International Superleaque Culter 7 v
Parkvale 2 (at Crombie Park, Culter)
Culter won all three points witha comfortable win against relegated
Parkvale. Michael ORD was given his first start and with only 5 minutes
gone was left unmarked inthe penalty box to head home Rintoul’s free
kick. Bruce SMITH marked his return to the team by poking home Brown’s
low cross in 16 minutes before McBain beat the offside trap to square
the ball to Martin SI-lAND to tap in on 23 minutes. Cooper hit the post
with a shot on the turn before Parkvale got one back in the 43rd minute,
Knox missed McCausland’s cross and the ball broke to Ally McLEOD to
stroke the ball into the net from 6 yards. Half Time: 3 — 1.
Mountford hit the bar with a crashing shot then Ord and McBain had shots
saved by Butler, but he was helpless in the 59th minute. Ord flicked on
a corner and Andy CAMPBELL volleyed home from the back post. In the 70th
minute George McBAIN produced a clever lob from the edge of the box that
just crept in under the crossbar and again George McBAIN was on the end
of a Mountlord pass to stroke home from 6 yards in the 74th minute.
Fiddes fouled McBain inside box and Andy CAMPBELL stepped up to send the
‘keeper the wrong way from the penalty spot in 79 minutes. Parkvale

Saturday 26 April 2008 — Norsco Regional Cup 3 Round (Quarter Final)
Culter 2 v Dyce 4 (at Crombie Park, Culter)
The Deesiders had the first decent effort on goal with Craik’s effort
from inside the box going wide. McBain then had a gut busting rur which
ended with Mountford miskicking his cross to safety. Rattray robbed
McHattie of a shot at goal with a well-timed tackle before Buckley saved
at the feet of Ord for the first real save of the game. Dyce took the
lead in 29 minutes with a hopeful punt being picke up by Kevin NEISH in
the box and he turned the home defence before placing the ball beyond
Knox. Culter responded with Ord firing the ball inches wide but Dyce
increased their lead in the 37th minute. Milne played the ball wide to
Stuart REID and his mistimed cross went high and over the outstretched
arms of the home ‘keeper. Half Time: 0— 2.
Culter were right back in the game when Brown’s surging run into the box
was ended by Jeffery’s mistimed tackle in the box in the 52 minute and
the referee pointed straight to the penalty spot. Andy CAMPBELL, for the
second time in two matches, sent the ‘keeper the wrong way. Knox did
well to palm away Reid’s decent effort and Knox was then glad to see
McHattie’s header from the resultant corner fly over. The home team went
further behind in the 62 minute when the home defence failed to dear
their lines and Reid squared the ball to Kevin NEISH for a simple tap
in. Shand’s header from Rintoul’s cross was well saved by Buckley but in
the 73rd minute Culter again pulled a goal back. Buckley spilled
Wilson’s long range effort into the path of the inrushing Martin SHAND
who blasted the ball home from close range. Brown was unlucky to see his
lob nestle on top of the net before Wilson again tried his luck from way
out but this time the away ‘keeper gratefully held on to the ball. With
Culter pushing for an equaliser Greg DAVIDSON ran onto a though ball
from Neish and chipped Knox from the edge of the box in injury time to
knock Culter out of all cup competitions this season.
