Culter recorded a
worthwhile win against table toppers Banks o' Dee at Crombie Park on a
pleasant February afternoon - it was a pity it was not a Super League Match.
Culter gained revenge for the 2 - 0 defeat which Dee inflicted on us in a
Section D Gril League Cup Match at Spain Park on 14 August 2007.
Forbes was first into
action palming away Shand's fierce drive in the 9th minute. Rattray then
produced a timely tackle in the box to deny Stephen as he homed in on the
Culter goal. From the resultant corner Pressley blocked Long's goal bound
header. Smith of Culter then produced some cool defending by chesting the
ball back to Riches when under pressure. Culter went straight up the park
with Rintoul's pass finding Stewart who side stepped his marker before
crossing for Adam WILSON to power home a terrific header in the 31st minute.
Half Time: 1 - 0.
Riches easily gathered
Turnbull's shot from distance and then Corsa's overhead kick just whizzed
past the upright as the Dee went looking for the equaliser. Rattray's
cross found Wilson whose forward header was met by Martin SHAND who blasted
the ball high past Forbes to put Culter two up after 59 minutes. A Stewart
shot on the turn just scraped the post but the Dee were right back ir the
game in 77 minutes when Turnbull's cross found CAMARA unmarked in the box
and the striker picked his spot from 10 yards. Craik had the chance to
kill the game in the next minute but totally missed the ball from only yards
out. Shand's volley was well saved by Forbes but the 'keeper was helpless in
the second minute of time added. A Brown free kick found Cadger who played
the ball back into the path of John BROWN who took one touch before
hammering the ball past the Dee `keeper for a deserved Culter victory.
Brown's beauty was our 100th goal of the season.
