Culter were denied two
valuable points in the race for the league title thanks to a late late
equaliser after the referee had played five minutes injury time. This was
all the more surprising when the game had only stopped once for injury.
Culter's 100% league record has now been broken and with a massive backlog
of league fixtures we face a formidable task in aiming to retain the Super
League title for the 5th consecutive season.
Dyce made a good start
and Wilson did well to clear Edene's cross. Craik then denied Reid with a
timely tackle in the box but it was the away team who opened the scoring
when Brown's cross from the left was glanced into the net by Martin SHAND in
the 13th minute. Rattray then came close with a volley that Buckley was able
to smother. Culter were now in control and Sim's rasping 25 yarder went
straight to the home `keeper before Buckley went scrambling to collect
Craik's long punt that seemed to be heading for the top corner of the net.
Mountford was next to try his luck but again the shot went straight into the
`keeper's arms. Rattray then blocked Edene's shot and Pirie watched as
McHattie's shot flew over the crossbar. Webster then headed over from 6
yards when it looked easier to score before Milne flashed a18 yard effort
wide just on the half time whistle.
Half Time: 0 -1.
Mountford headed over
Hamilton's inch perfect cross but seconds later Culter had doubled their
advantage as Farmer fed in Brown whose terrific first time cross was met by
the diving Martin SHAND in the 51st minute. Sim again tested Buckley with a
long range effort but in the 66th minute Dyce were right back in it.- A
mistake in the Culter defence let in EDENE who was left with plenty of time
to lob Pirie from 20 yards. Craik's 22-yard effort just flashed wide before
McBain replaced Farmer to make his Culter debut. Culter thought they had won
the game when Pirie brilliantly saved Neish's fierce shot in the 93rd minute
but with seconds remaining McHATTIE produced a dipping volley that flew past
the diving Pirie in 95 minutes.
