Culter made one change
from the team that beat Turriff, with Colin Craik replacing the suspended
Murray Rattray. Culter started brightly and their early pressure paid off
when SHAND hammered home a Farmer cross in the 3rd minute. Farmer skipped
past Main and his deep cross was volleyed
by Mountford, whose effort was saved by the keeper's legs. Adam then had
his goal bound shot kicked off the line by Ross after a goalmouth scramble.
There was a shock in 23 minutes when FARMER headed home a superb Brown cross
to double the home advantage. Shand headed against the post then a Christie
12 yard effort was tipped over as the one way traffic continued. Shand was
upended in the box by Costen as he closed in on goal in 42 minutes, Referee
Braidwood awarded a spot kick and sent off Costen. Brown stepped up but
keeper Payne guessed right to produce a great save. Culter were not to be
denied when good work by Wilson and Shand set up the easiest of chances for
MOUNTFORD to score from close range right on half-time. H Time: 3-0.
Culter were awarded a
penalty in 48 minutes when Porter barged Shand off the ball, but Brown
couldn't believe his luck when Payne guessed the right way again and turned
the spot kick out for a comer. Ten man Burghead pulled a goal back two
minutes later when a defensive mix up left McINTYRE the simplest task of
slotting the ball past Riches. Cadger replaced Shand and nearly scored
with his first touch but Payne saved easily. Cadger then headed a Brown
cross off the post before MOUNTFORD scored his second of the day from close
range from another well driven Brown cross. Brown and Cadger combined well
leaving BROWN to drive the ball home from 12 yards. Mountford and Brown then
tested the keeper before Stewart shot past the post after leaving right back
Milne in knots. Mountford blasted over while in search of his hat trick but
it was Burghead who scored next when MAIN's harmless looking header looped
over Riches and into the net for a shock second goal. Next minute McDonald's
snap shot came bouncing back of the post with Riches beaten. Mountford
blasted another effort over where on a better day Culter would have doubled
their score.
