Banks o' Dee v
Culter. Culter started brightly with Brown linking up with Cadger
before seeing his shot held by Pennct. Cadger then headed wide a Cowell free
kick. Pirie held a Fyfe long range effort easily on 15 minutes before
Pennet did well t hold onto a Brown 20 yarder. The home team went in front
in 31 minutes when SMITH had the easy task of tapping home a Taylor cut
back. Culter replied with Sim shooting wide and a Craik daisy cutter before
Long blasted over his own bar from a Farmer cross just on half time.
Half Time: 1 - 0.
In the 47 minute
Stainer was clean though on the Culter goal only to see his 18 yard effort
crash back off the crossbar and Mountford had a great chance to level but
his close range shot was well saved by Pennet. Brown's 54th
minute free kick led by a goalmouth scramble that ended with Campbell's
header hitting the crossbar. Brownhill was left to wander into the box
but Pirie got down well to save with his feet Dee went 2 - 0 up after
TAYLOR turned Rattray in the box and blasted the ball home in 63
minutes. White should have finished the game but missed from 5 yards
when it looked easier to score. Shand played Stewart though with a terrific
long ball but Stewart's chip over the advancing keeper scraped past the
wrong side of the post fo Culter's last chance of the game.

Culter v Maud. Section
D of the Grill league cup will go to the wire with Culter and Formartine
United closely contesting the runner. up spot. If both teams win their final
games then goal difference will come into the equation. Culter are marginaly
ahead in this department. The Maud match was a personal triumph for Chris
Mountford who netted four to take hi! season's tally to five to draw level
with Skipper Murray Rattray at the top of the scoring table.
The early encounters
were fairly even until Peter Stewart threw in a cross for Chris Mountford
but his header squirmed wide c the target. Moments later Peter Stewart had a
dirl himself but `keeper Michael Towson saved well. Gordon Farmer wa
prominent on the left for Culter but he failed to get in a meaningful cross.
The Deesiders went ahead in the 19th minute when the Maud defence went to
sleep allowing Chris Mountford a free header from a deep John Brown cross.
Culter almost went : up soon after when a Danny Craib header pinged off the
keeper's knees before it fell to Murray Rattray who bleezed threbound over
the bar. By this stage Culter were in the driving seat but Maud continued to
try to play football on the ground bL they were stung when a powerful Bruce
Smith piledriver cannoned off Bruce Davidson and into the back of the net.
Just before half time the home side were on easy street when Chris Mountford
picked up the ball deep in enemy territory an meandered through a befuddled
defence to net a wonderful solo effort. Peter Stewart could have made it
four just before th break but the `keeper denied him with a fine save.
At the start of the
second period Peter Stewart sustained a nasty head injury and had to be
treated in the pavilion before getting back onto the field. Maud then had a
chance to pull one back but Ian Murray shot wide from good position. Mid wa
through the half Gordon Farmer made a complete hash of a simple chance but
he made amends a few minutes later when h crossed for Chris Mountford who
gleefully netted for his hat-trick. Two minutes later Gordon Farmer once
again provided the ammunition for Chris Mountford who snuck in ahead of sub
Phil McCall to net from close range. With the end in sight Gordon Farmer
made a gype of himself by trying to be too fancy in front of an open goal
and the ball was cleared to safety.
