The winners of our Annual Awards were
announced at our Season End Social in The Seafield Club on Friday 22 June
2007. The Dick Brown Memorial Trophy. presented annually to the member who
has done most for the Club over the past season, was won by the General
Secretary/Treasurer - myself. It was an unexpected pleasant surprise for
me. It was my 8th time, having first won the original trophy when as
donated in 1971/72. The last time I won it was in 1993/94.
The Player of the Year- Larry Barclay Trophy was won by resolute
defender Andy Campbell. Andy, in his first season with Culter, as
obviously taken aback "at this stage of my career" he modestly said.
He was outstanding in defence throughout our successful season. Andy was
picked as a member of the Junior Team of the Year.

Drumoak 2 v Garlogie 1 (at Crombie
Park, Culter) H Time: 1 - 1.
Drumoak Scorers: Dave Brand and Jamie Wood. Garlogie Scorer: Ross
Taylor.
In a closely contested
Final on a remarkably fine evening at Crombie
Park, considering the previous
evening's deluge, extra time seemed imminent. Only a few minutes remained
when Jamie Wood broke down the left flank and fired home the Cup winning
goal much to the delight of the Drumoak players, officials and supporters.
I had the honour of
presenting my late father's Cup which was being contested for the 41st time
to the Drumoak Captain lain Jaffray after Senior Echt & District Member Bob
Taylor's speech. Bob then awarded Runners-up Garlogie with the Tough Cup, in
memory of Davie Tough. Afterwards Bob regaled us with fascinating stories
about wee Davie who never went anywhere without his small case. The Tough
Cup commenced in 1956.
Sadly the Echt &
District Summer League is in decline and is reduced to only three teams
remaining in membership - the Moir Cup finalists and Millbank. At one time
there were three teams from Culter in their league - Culter Mills, The
Ploughman and The Richmond Arms teams. The league future is therefore in
jeopardy. Lets hope interest can be rekindled in this its 70t'h year
of existence.
