Late Leveller

Soccer World Super League: Culter 1 v Turriff United 1 (at Crombie Park, Culter) Half Time: 0 - 0. Culter Scorer: Stewart.        Dyce Scorer: Allan.

Turriff denied Culter two points with a late equaliser in a second half that Culter dominated. A card happy referee didn't help Culter's cause.

Culter were first to threaten when a Craik cross was miskicked by Dlugonski only to fall into the arms of his `keeper and in the next minute Cowell was the first to be cautioned on what was going to be a busy afternoon for the referee.   Pirie then had to be alert to divert a McKenzie shot round the post. A long ball by Dlugonski found Lobbin but a timely tackle from Campbell cleared the danger. Christie was then cautioned for dissent before a Rattray cross found Craib but his header was easily saved.  Rattray then also appeared in the referee's book for dissent. A Ralton, Stewart move ended with McKenzie shooting tamely at Pirie then Pirie was again called into action holding onto a Petrie drive. Referee Lovie had time to cautioned Lobbin of Turriff before blowing for half time.         Half Time: 0 - 0.

Culter had claims for a penalty waved away when Craik was fouled in the box then Stewart had a shot blocked by Ralton.    A great run by Calder ended with an inch perfect pass to Stewart whose shot was again blocked. In the 59 minute a lay off by Craik found Rattray whose right foot drive went inches wide. Culter finally got the goal their play deserved on the hour mark when SHAND headed home a Craik cross.   Shand was then cautioned before being replaced by Smith. Campbell gave away a free kick which resulted in Chalmers heading wide of the Culter post before Whyte replaced Craib. After 75 minutes had been played Stewart found Craik whose effort scraped the post then Stewart saw his 30-yard free kick tipped over the bar by Buchanan. Morrison then replaced Craik but it was Turriff who hit Culter with a sucker punch.        A defensive mistake was picked up by King whose shot was parried into the path of ALLAN who made no mistake from 6 yards.  McKenzie became the final player to be cautioned by Referee Lovie in the last minute but there was still time for a great saving tackle from Campbell on Allan as the player closed in on goal and a fine Pirie save from King.
