Chris's Crombie.Chisteninq.

Looking back over my Bulletins I discovered that Chris: Ogboke had played at Crombie Park 10 years ago. Chris was a member of the Westhill Boys Club team who played Bushill Boys Club in the final of the Scottish Juvenile Cup on Sunday 26 May 1996:   Westhill had reached a national final for the first time since the club was formed in 1990. Chris, Steven Marwick and Callum Bett (son of Jim Bett) were regulars at Pittodrie to be put through their paces by coach Drew Jarvie. An away win over powerful Rangers BC was one of the main highlights of their march through to the final at Culter.

Westhill, who were coached by Jim Chalmers and Richard Robertson also won their league title undefeated and had scored an amazing 191 goals in just 37 games.

The match report was as follows:

"Westhill Boys Club striker Callum Bett followed in his father's footsteps to become a Scottish Cup winner at the weekend. Callum, son of Scotland star Jim who was a cup winner with Rangers and Aberdeen, netted twice as Westhill beat Bushill BC 3-1 to lift under-14 Scottish Juvenile Cup.

Chris Ogboke shot Westhill ahead against the Airdrie side midway through the first half before Bett struck to make it 2 - 0. Bushill's hopes were raised when they replied with 15 minutes to go, but Bett sealed victory by slotting home a penalty in the dying seconds.

That sparked amazing scenes of celebration as Westhill lifted their first national trophy just 6 years after the club's formation.,,
