In the absence of Match Reporter Ian "Kip" McKenzie, away in warmer climes, Albert returned to his old task to report on a bitterly cold afternoon, again with a little help from his friends. Top of the table Culter faced bottom of the league side FC Stoneywood, aware that there are never any easy games. FC Stoneywood included former Culter players Tony Buckley and Greg Davidson in their line-up.

In the opening minute Craik broke down the right-flank but Buckley dived at his feet to save. Next minute Mitchell sent the ball upfield to Murray who hit the ball across Culter's goalmouth but it was cleared . Culter attacked from the clearance and Ogboke won a corner taken by Morrison which was ably held by Buckley.

Next minute a speculative Morrison long-range, try was not far off target. Following a 5th minute cross into Culter's goalmouth Thain appeared to  push Armour but their penalty appeals were in vain. A minute afterwards Christie crossed to Farmer whose try was held by Buckley. An 8th minute Morrison comer was headed past by Rattray. In 17 minutes Morrison crossed to OGBOKE whose header hit the bar and bounced over the line. Referee Burrows allowed play to go on but Assistant Referee Catto rightly confirmed that it had been a goal.  Next minute a high Shand header was ably clutched by Buckley.  After a fine solo run by SHAND he deceived Buckley by hitting the ball into the net at the near post in the 25th minute. On the half mark Armour was breaking through but Christie covered well to clear. A minute afterwards a dangerous ball into Culter's goalmouth was headed clear by Scott with Dawson up in contention. Davidson slipped the ball to Murray who was clean through in 32 minutes but Pirie did well to block his shot for goal. In the 40th minute Shand passed the ball to Farmer whose drive crashed against the upright.        Barely a minute later Shand had the ball in the net but Referee Burrows' whistle went for offsides. Two minutes before the interval following a quick short comer Farmer shot straight into Buckley's arms.  Half Time: 0 - 2.

In the opening minute of the second half Milne's cross was headed wide by Armour.  A minute later Ogboke sent a short free kick to Christie whose try was held by Buckley. A 53rd minute comer broke to OGBOKE who fired the ball home to

make it 3 - 0.  In 57 minute Ogboke cut the ball in to give Shand the easiest of close range chances but he shot straight at Buckley. Mitchell was booked for a 58th minute foul on Ogboke.  Culter were awarded a free kick at the edge of the box in 62 minutes and Ogboke slipped it to Shand whose shot was held by Buckley. In 67 minutes Cheyne replaced Meldrum.  At this stage a Calder cross found Shand whose goal-bound header was tipped over the bar by Buckley. Culter brought on McRitchie and Pressley for Calder and Shand after 69 minutes had been played. Next minute Milne was booked for bringing down Farmer. After a 75th minute melee in the box RATTRAY's shot went in off the crossbar.

A minute after Rattray came close again when his drive was deflected past by a defender for a corner. Glass replaced Farmer at this stage.  After the resultant corner was taken by Morrison it found SCOTT who headed a cracking 77th minute goal. FC Stoneywood were reduced to nine men in 84 minutes when Mitchell was booked following a foul on Craik and Dawson was also sent off for a second bookable offence, apparently for dissent. There was an 88th minute scramble in Culter's goalmouth before being cleared. Next minute Ogboke was through but Buckley ran out to block the ball for a comer. Morrison's corner was headed over by Ogboke.  In the last minute Glass crossed to give McRitchie a chance but Buckley saved his try. In injury time Collins headed narrowly past after good play by Davidson.
