In the absence of Match Reporter Ian "Kip" MdCenzie, Albert reverted back to
his old role to carry out this duty - with a little help from my friends,
ably assisted by Colin Low and Kyle Scott's friend Julia Ralph.
The weather prediction was dismal with rain expected but Doug Grant's
optimism proved correct when we arrived in Dufftown to be greeted by
sunshine!
In 4 minutes two inswinging comers from ORD in succession were headed out
for further corners and off the 3rd one a Glass try was headed off the
goal-line by Allan. In the 10th minute Dufftown stunned Culter when
they broke through and Allan fired them ahead. In 14 minutes another
inswinging Ord comer was headed past by Rattray. On the quarter hour mark
after good play by
Culter Ord shot over, Cameron was booked for a 19th minute foul on McRitchie.
Four minutes later Robertson was booked for dissent after a disputed foul
was awarded against Collie. In 26 minutes a Glass try was headed out for a
comer by Allan. Off Ord's resultant yet again inswinging comer was headed
off the line by Fraser. Next minute Glass headed narrowly-over.
Ord's superb corners were creating danger and his next one on the half hour
mark went narrowly past the far post. Two minute later Ord hooked in a
superb strike to equalise. Next minute Cameron was booked again for
inflicting a head injury on young Sim to be red carded. In 36 minutes a
spectacular shot from his own half by Ord flashed past the post. At this
stage Stewart
replaced the injured Sim. Next minute Shaw blazed a free kick high over. In
39 minutes Pirie raced out to beat K Smith to the ball. Five minutes before
the interval Stewart beat 3 men then shot narrowly past. Next minute,
however, Glass cut the ball back to Stewart who fired it into the far comer
of the net. Just another minute later a great ball from Stewart was hit
against the post by Shand and McRittchie was on hand to net the rebound. As
the half time was reached an Ambulance arrived to take Culter's injured Sim
off to Elgin Hospital.
Three minutes after the interval Stewart crossed to McRitchie who put the
ball past the post from an acute angle. In 52 minutes a well hit Robertson
shot was blocked by `keeper Thompson and Shand ran in to net the loose ball
but Referee Donohoe blew for offsides. In 56 minutes after two comers in
succession McRitchie's try was blocked but Rattray thumped in the loose
ball. Next
minute Stewart fired in our 5th goal.
After 58 minutes had been played Dufftown fielded Kennedy for M Smith whilst
Culter replaced Robertson with Craik. On the hour mark a good try by
substitute Kennedy was well held by Pirie. Next minute Duffown came close
when a Hector drive was turned past the post by Pirie. In 62 minutes Farmer
replaced McRitchie. Two minutes later Scott flicked the ball narrowly over
the bar. After neat play by Shand he cracked the ball into the net. In 70
minutes Goalkeeper Pirie was booked apparently for dissent. In 73 minutes
our starring substitute Stewart bamboozled the Dufftown defence and rifled a
left foot shot between 'keeper Thompson's legs into the comer of the net. A
77th minute try by Thain was deflected over for a comer. Five minutes later
Thain was booked for a foul on Allan. At this stage an invading dog stopped
play! Ord fired the ball into the side netting after 84 minutes had been
played. Next minute Dufftown were reduced to 9 men when Fraser was sent off
for a late challenge. In 86 minutes Pirie did well to save a close range
McGregor try. Two minutes before the final whistle Stewart evaded the
Dufftown defence, beat `keeper Thompson to the ball and slipped the ball to
Shand who netted easily to complete the scoring.
We enjoyed the after match hospitality in The Royal Oak Hotel and our Peace
Coaches Driver Ronnie Allan, who deservedly won the Dufftown £20 'Choose
Your Team' Competition, waited patiently for our injured player Andrew Sim
to return by taxi from Elgin Hospital.
