Roddy Runs Riot

Acorn Heating Cup Quarter Final:

 Culter 5 Wilson's XI 0 H-T 3-0
Scorer: Roddy Cameron 14, 20, 40, 70, 73

Culter progressed to a semi final meeting with East End following an emphatic victory over a stunned Wilson's team who were left bemused by a five star performance from Roddy Cameron.

Culter were quickly into their stride with a much changed team from last week and England did well to head a long Greig ball back to the keeper. A few minutes later Wilson's put together a meaningful attack and Allan had to turn a swerving Robertson cross behind for a comer. The Deesiders then put together a quality attack but
Davidson had strayed offside following a great ball from Calder. In the 12"' minute a poor ball by Ord allowed Everson to run clear and Cowell was forced to bring him down near the edge of the area. From the resultant free kick McRitchie attempted to clear but he sliced the ball behind for a comer. Culter took the lead a couple of minutes later thanks to the persistency of Ord who battled to win the ball in the middle of the park before sending
a telling ball to CAMERON who strode into the area and lashed the ball past the hapless Farquhar for a terrific opener. The home side were beginning to flow now and Allan set of on a surging run before finding Cameron but his cross was turned behind for a comer. Ord took the kick and the ball whizzed across the face of the goal but
none of the Culter attackers could get a touch on it. The visitors then streamed up the park and Everson forced Pirie into a decent save. A few minutes later Culter added to their tally when Calder found McRitchie in the box nd he forced a good save from Farquhar but CAMERON was on hand to knock the ball into the unguarded net
Cameron was on fire now and received the ball after a great Allan run and Lewis was forced to hack his cross out for a throw in. It was all Culter now who were playing some sweet soccer and Calder attempted to get his name on the score sheet but his volley from the edge of the area flew well over the bar. Moments later England
upended Cameron just outside the box but Allan's free kick cannoned off the-wall and away to safety. Christie then found Ord who swung in a ball to Allan at th3 back post but Farquhar saved his close range effort. With 36 minutes on the clock Cameron swung in a cross for McRitchie who directed a downward header towards the net
but Farquhar reacted brilliantly to turn the ball over for a comer. In a rare Wilson's attack Robertson had a shot easily saved by the almost redundant Pirie but the third was not long in coming as CAMERON raced clear on the right and outstripped the chasing pack before sending a grounder under the keeper and into the net. Culter
finished the half well on top and McRitchie had a chance from an Allan cross but headed just over.

The home side started the second period well and McRitchie and Ord combined to set up Cameron but his weak effort was saved by Farquhar. Wilson's were desperate to get back into the came but could hardly muster an attack but were afforded an opportunity from a Lewis free kick but the ball just cleared the bar although Pirie had
it covered. Christie then went surging into the box for Culter and his low cross was just missed by the onrushing McRitchie. With Wilson's now looking to limit the damage the game went into a period of inactivity but Lewis almost scored an own goal from a Christie cross but the ball spun behind for a comer. With 65 minutes played
Cameron had an opportunity from a McRitchie cross but he headed well over for good position. The Deesiders then sent on Stewart and Smith for Christie and McRitchie while the visitors put on Morrison and Cruickshank for Robertson and Cheyne and it was Stewart who almost made an immediate impact when he scurried free but his low shot was comfortably saved by Farquhar. Moments later Stewart did make that impact when he sent in a delightful cross for CAMERON who buried a clinical header past the stranded keeper. With the game all over bar the shouting Gray had a real chance to narrow the deficit but missed a sitter when clean through. Culter and
CAMERON went nap in the 73rd minute following some great play from Ord and Stewart and the delighted striker was left with a simple tap in to complete the scoring.
