C
ulter cruised to an easy victory against a poor Stonehaven side but the Deesiders did put in their best performance for a long while which sees them move into second place whilst the Mearns side lie anchored at the bottom of the table.

There was no hint of the goal feast to come in the opening exchanges and `Hive had the first real opportunity in the 7"' minute when Blacklaws fed Kennedy but he dragged his shot well wide. At the other end Calder released Adam who in turn found Allan but keeper McIntosh dealt with his effort easily. Cufter opened their account in style when Cameron picked out Craik who found MCRITCHIE with his back to goal but the big striker turned on a tanner before dispatching a clinical shot past McIntosh and into the net. Blacklaws then had an opportunity at the other end following a slip by Cowell but M. Pirie was alert enough to get the ball to safety with the assistance of Rattray. A few moments later Craik was clean through and he beat McIntosh with a crisp strike but the ball cannoned off the post and away. In the 19"' minute there was a disaster for `Hive when a stinging Cameron cross was turned into his own net by STEPHEN. Two minutes later Culter were on easy street when Stewart twisted and turned in the area before crossing to CAMERON who had the simplest of tasks in turning the ball into an empty net. 'Hive then had a rare opportunity when a Robertson free kick was bundled past by Kennedy when it looked easier to score. Despite this scare Culter continued to dominate and only desperate defending kept the score down until Allan sent a good ball down the line to Cameron who found McRITCHIE.and his acrobatic overhead kick took- a wicked deflection and ended up creeping over the line with Mclntosh stranded. M. Pirie was called into action just before the break when he rose above a posse of players to clutch a Campbell cross.

With the match apparently won Culter looked a little lacklustre at the start of the second period but `Hive were devoid of ideas and did not put the visiting defence under any real pressure. McRitchie then had the chance to get his hat trick from a good Stewart cross but he completely missed the ball when standing alone at the back post. The Deesiders kept turning the screw and number 5 came in the 64th minute when STEWART raced clear to send the ball past the unguarded McIntosh but Stephen clattered him once the ball was in the net but only earned a yellow.. Cutter then sent on Smith and Collie for Stewart and Christie but it was CAMERON who netted next when he sent in a dipping shot from the right which McIntosh looked to have covered but he allowed the ball to squirm under his body and into the net. A few minutes later Stephen was shown his second yellow by referee W. Young for pole axing Adam on the edge of the area. With the 'Hive now in complete tatters MCRITCHIE got his third when he turned in a terrific Cameron pass. Thain, on as a sub, then made his contribution when he collected a classy Cameron reverse pass before slinging the ball deep to MCRITCHIE who headed home with ease. Two minutes later McRitchie returned the favour when he sent THAIN through following good work from Cameron and the Lochnagar man drew the keeper before sliding the ball into the net. At the very death the largely inactive M. Pirie produced a fantastic triple save to deny `Hive a consolation.
