Roddy Does the Trick

Culter came away with all three points in a hotly fought encounter at North Lodge Park in fairly
windy conditions. Roddy Cameron was once again the hero with a stunning hat trick but
contributed in a fascinating match.

United were the first out of the blocks but Pirie easily held a McLeod effort in the 2nd minute. As early as
the 5th minnute Culter took the lead with a goal of real quality when Stewart twisted and turned on the edge of the box before sending in a perfect cross for CAMERON to head home powerfully. McLeod then
scampered dear at the other end but his cross was poor and Pirie gathered simpy. United were fighting
hard and Reid found Griffin with a through bll but the defender shot well wide. United then gained a
corner but Pirie comfortably held Reid's header. In the 29th minute Culter were awarded a free kick and
Adam tried to curl one but it flew over. Six minutes later Culter doubled their advantage when Adam took
a delicate free kick and CAMERON was on hand to net his second with a fine header. Rattray then set up
the in form Cameron with a delightful through ball and the striker buried the ball in the net but referee P.
Cheyne ruled out the effort for offside. Cameron almost did get his third near the end of the half with a
shot following a great turn in the box but the ball drifted just wide with Christie stranded.

United introduced Gibson for Griffin just after the restart but it was McLeod who almost got one back
Pirie misjudged a high bal! which held up in the wind but Collie was on hand to turn the ball out for a
corner. The home side should have pulled one back a few minutes later when Cormie was allowed a free
header from a Bisset cross but he put the ball well wide. Culter had a chance in the 57th minute when
Craik let in Adam but his attempt hit the side netting. Smith cam on for Stevvart in 61st minute but it was
Pirie who caused consternation in the away support when he lost the ball dribbling out of his box but there were no takers. The experienced Culter keeper made up for this a few minutes later with a save of
outstanding quality from a glorious Corser strike from the edge of the area. With United pressing forward
looking for a goal back Smith sent a long through ball into the opponents half and CAMERON chasing a
seemingly lost caused challenged the advancing Christie to the ball and won it before prodding home-
Cameron then nearly turned provider for Adam but Christie recovered in time to deny a fourth for the
Visitors- United did pull one back in the 78th minute when both Collie and Rattray failed to clear the danger and McLEOD prodded home through a sea of legs. This set the Culter nerves jangling a little as United exerted pressure on the visitors but they were restricted to long range efforts. Davidson then had a
chance but Christie did well to keep out his effort Despite the territorial advantage United were having,
Cutter looked dangerous on the break and Smith went close from long range. Calder on for Ord for the
Deesiders raced free but his delicate chip was turned behind for a corner. Fraser the carne on for Christie
of Culter in the dying minutes but it was man of the moment Cameron who spurted away before setting up
CALDER with the easiest of chances to seal the match.
