Culter gave Lads Club a real hiding at Crombie Park and it could have been
more but for the
heroics of keeper Dalgarno and the woodwork. The Deesiders now play host to
Dufftown in the
next round of this cup.
Culter began the onslaught as early as the 3rd minute when Davidson fed
Smith who in turn set in
a cross for Stewart who laid the ball off to CAMERON and he buried the ball
into the back of the
net. K. Christie then tried to get in on the act but his piledriver whizzed
just wide. Dalgamo
earned his corn a few moments later when he saved well from Davidson as
Culter threatened to
overrun the strangely subdued and ineffectual Woodside team. Before long the
second was
added and it was that man CAMERON again who followed up to net after Dalgamo
saved a
Rattray attempt. Lads had their first attempt, at goal in the 20th minute
but the long range effort
from Pirie went harmlessly wide. It was all Culter and once again Dalgarno
saved well from
Davidson following good build up play. The post came to the rescue for the
beleaguered visitors
when an Adam shot was parried by Dalgarno. With 33 minutes on the clock
Collie replaced the
injured Cowell but this did not alter the pattern of play as Cameron's shot
hit the post with the
home defence sleeping. The third was not long delayed and this time Cameron
turned provider
when he set up Stewart but Dalgarno once again saved but ADAM was on hand to
turn the ball
into the empty net. Stewart the tried his luck with a header but this time
the keeper saved easily
Craik then went on a darting solo run but he dragged his shot wide as
Dalgarno narrowed the
angle. With half time rapidly approaching Craik went on another damaging run
and this time he
cut the ball back to CAMERON who thundered home first time off the underside
of the bar. Gutter
went nap just on the half time whistle following a move of sheer class when
Smith fed Cameron
who in turn released Craik who sent in STEWART who finished with style.
It didn't take the home side long to get number six when Collie went on a
dynamic run upfield
before setting up STEWART for his second. Grant then came on for Craik but
it was Adam who
almost got his second with a fine shot which cannoned off the bar and away
to safety. In a very
rare attack Louden of Lads shot wide but the attempt did not trouble Pirie.
The inevitable
happened in the 59ty minute and again the goal by CAMERON; some terrific
lead up play
by K. Christie, Grant and Stewart. Culter continued to exert immense
pressure on the visitors but
some careless defending by the home side let the visitors get a consolation
through PIRIE who
prodded past his namesake in the Culter goal. Almost straight from the
restart Culter went on the
rampage and this time Grant found the elusive CAMERON who banged in his
fifth. Fraser came
on for Adam then had a go but his weak shot was easily held. With five
minutes remaining
CAMERON got his double hat trick when he ran half the length of the park
before firing past the
totally unguarded Dalgarno. Stewart almost added his third when he was sent
free but this time
he shot over.
