DEESIDE CHORISTERS THE MUSIC sung during the last two terms has been ambitious, but even the seven-year-olds have tackled it with enthusiasm. On 27 March we revived 'LENTEN IMAGES' in the refurbished chapel at Blairs, after a lapse of several years. It is not for me to say how good it was but, for us, it was a great event and the choir and soloists gave of their very best, accompanied by the dazzling organ accompaniments of Neil Cathmoir.
The year has been unusual in that the total number of singers has maintained the level reached at the recruiting drive last August. Usually by now the numbers have fallen somewhat but thanks to a steady trickle of new recruits we still field around 50 singers. At the beginning of May, we shall take part in the annual Diocesan Music Festival at St Andrew's Cathedral, King Street, Aberdeen. In June we sing Evensong at St John's in Crown Terrace, Aberdeen, and then depart on 2 July for our annual Chair Camp. This year it will be held at the Cathedral of the Isles on the holiday Island of Cumbrae. Enquiries about membership will be welcome as usual. Malcolm Love |
