CULTER FCCreditable Cup Campaign: After beating Bonnybridge 2-1 away in the 1st Round of the OVD Scottish Junior Cup, we drew 1-1 with Dunbar United at Dunbar. Culter had a resounding 5-0 victory in the 2nd Round replay at Crombie Park then drew 0-0 with Benburb at Culter. Culter pulled off an amazing 4-3 win in Glasgow over the Central League leaders in the replay with Neil McRitchie scoring all four goals. Benburb was one of the favourites to win the Scottish Cup. In the 4th round against Bathgate Thistle at Bathgate, Culter came so close, going down 2-1, with Neii McRitchie's second half penalty being ripped over the bar. An uncharacteristic mistake by 'keeper Tony Buckley allowed Bathgate's substitute to score the winning goal with only five minutes left to play. Squad Strengthened: Team manager, Bobby Gray, has signed three players from the Highland League for a looming busy second half of the season. The new players are Stephen Clinton (ex Keith), Scott Brown (ex Peterhead) and Jason Sutherland (ex Inverurie Loco Works). Month Man McRitchie: Neil McKenzie was announced as the Green Final Player of the Month in December 2001. At the time of Neil's award our prolific goalscorer had already an amazing tally of 35 goals so far this season. Neil's prize was a new pair of football boots from award sponsors Soccer World. Margaret's Money: Margaret Alexander was the outright winner of our Lottery in October 2001. Her prize was the fine round sum of £3000. The former Culter Mills Nurse was a popular winner, having supported Culter FC's fund raising ventures over many years. Dinner Delight: Our 16th Celebrity Dinner at the Dyce Skean Dhu on Friday 16 November 2001, proved to another great night. The event was attended by 260 gentlemen and there was the usual splendid atmosphere. Jimmy Watson was an able Compere, and Guest Speaker, Tommy Smith, had the audience enthralled with his humorous stories of his Liverpool FC days - of particular interest to John Ogaton who had been on the Liverpool playing staff at the same time as Tommy. Comedian Bill Copeland was absolutely brilliant and received a deserved ovation at the end of his sparkling performance. A night to be remembered. Celebrity Dinner Photograph:
