58th Aberdeen (Culter) Scout Group
Annual BBQ
THE Scout Group in Culter
continues to flourish. We recentlv held our annual family BBQ at Templars which
was enjoyed by Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers together with their families
and representatives from Aberdeen Area. At the BBQ, Cubs and Scouts ran a
marathon together to raise money for the Children with Leukaemia charity.
The Scouts are looking
forward to their summer camp, which this year is at Sluggan Bridge near
Carrbridge. This is a 'green field' camp where we get back to basics and learn
camping craft, cooking over open fires, etc. We will also spend a number of days
off site in the area with activities such as wind surfing, mountain biking and
hill walking.
The Explorers are very
active and a number recently took to the hills to prepare for their silver and
bronze Duke of Edinburgh's awards. Their summer camp this year is at Hawkhirst
in Northumberland.
We still need a further
Cub leader to join an active team of leaders in this section, to help plan and
supervise activities. Similarly, we need another Beaver leader to support our
existing leaders. Oh, and we also are on the look out for a new Treasurer to
pick up from Margaret who is stepping down after many years. All these positions
require only limited time commitment and are truly satisfying!
