MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE

THE Message in a Bottle is an initiative, which encourages the sick and frail to keep vital medical information about themselves sealed in a plastic bottle in their fridge.

Under the scheme, emergency services called in to aid householders have an immediate data sheet to help determine the best care procedures to follow in each case. The tubes contain forms giving information about medical history, GP, friend or relative to contact, along with details of any pets to be cared for. Stickers will alert paramedics, G-Docs or doctors that important information about the patient is in a plastic container in the fridge.

More information is available at Peterculter Health Centre.
