50+ WALKING GROUP

THURSDAY 17th April - walking day and thick fog, but by the time we reached Banchory the sun was beginning to force its way through the clouds and we were set for a lovely day out to the Fairy Glen. Some of us did not complete the walk but we enjoyed the outing in glorious sunshine and perfect scenery Spring is beginning to show in the countryside  with the larch trees in their new green shoots, always about the first to show a bit of colour.

1st of May did not provide us with dew to “make us bonny” as the rain lashed down. We gathered at Crathes Castle , had our “fly”, and a look round the shop before returning to Culter. Of course the sun appeared by afternoon - we had already made for home! Other trips were:

We visited the Bennachie Centre and walked part of the Gordon Way but decided not to tackle the steepest part. We did two shorter walks including The Gouk Stone!! Hope the spelling is correct!

Our next outing was to the Burn o’ Vat and Kinnord loch, a beautiful day and a picnic atmosphere. The next two walks were to the Boultenstone followed on 26th June to Forvie Sands and Collieston. Again the weather smiled on us.

It has been a lovely A summer and I hope  everyone has enjoyed a bit of sun, not forgetting the Sun Screen Cream - not easy to say! Our most senior member, Adam Craigmile had his 90th birthday on 11th July and is still able to walk with us - fitter than some! We wish him well. Glen Tanar was July 10th walk and always a favourite. Wishing all, happy holidays whether spent at home or in foreign lands.
