On
Friday 8 March, in the Village
Hall, we were treated to a
'one-night only' appearance of Mr
Harry Gordon, a favourite of many in
the north-east, in a play 'Cold
Today' written by Charles Barron.
Callum Stuart (a Culter loon) played
the part of Harry Gordon, accompanied
at the piano by Winnie Foster,
and the narration was by Alistair Harvey.
There
was almost a capacity audience and
the applause was a sure sign of how much
the show was appreciated. It brought
back many memories of The Laird of Inversnecky and Hilly's Man.
After
joining in with a favourite chorus
of Harry Gordon's -
"Fittie
folk, Kitty folk, Country folk and
City folk.
Folk
fae Constitution Street and folk fae
Rubislaw Den.
Wallfield,
Nellfield, Mannofield and Cattofield,
List
to local stories that professors dinna
ken.",
-we
adjourned to the Supper room where
an
array
of
scrumptious sandwiches,
sausage rolls and cakes was
waiting for us, provided by friends of
St Peter's Heritage Centre Trust.
Congratulations
to all those involved in this
memorable evening and especially to Callum. 'Cold
Today' is being performed in many
venues in the north-east. If you get the chance, please go and see it. You
will not be disappointed.

I
received an e-mail about Harry Gordon's pianist Alice Stephenson. I am
unable to answer the questions asked but
perhaps someone reading this can
help.
'Do
you know if any of the Stephenson family
still resides
within the areas of Aberdeen? I am the great niece of Alice Stephenson. My
father, Robert Sinclair, migrated to Australia in the 50s and I only met
one member of the family - Dave Stephenson, who played saxophone in Cyril
Stapleton's band. I do know that Dave had a son named lan but they lived
in London. However there were cousins of Alice who also lived in and
around Aberdeen. Alice's dad was a Tea Merchant in Aberdeen as well as a
respected sportsman.' Fiona Lindner (nee Sinclair)' e-mail:
