PETERCULTER HEALTH CENTREAS many of you reading this will know, it is my intention to retire as medical practitioner here in Peterculter at the end of June this year. Starting as an assistant in 1966, and becoming a partner with my father in 1968, it all seems in one way a long time ago and in another just no real time at all. It is quite a privilege to be a doctor to a village and rural area and I must confess to having enjoyed my work and have never given any thought to any other branch of medicine, nor would I, given the time over again. What will I miss? I will certainly miss my consultations and communications with you all. I will miss my students who gave me the job of seeing things from a young perspective. The staff of the Health Centre have become good friends and I will miss seeing them daily, and the exchange of experiences with my medical colleagues. I leave the practice in a very plush building in the very capable hands of Doctor David Millar, Doctor Kathleen Donald, Doctor Douglas Harris and my replacement, Doctor Joanne Owen, whom I commend to you. Dr S H W Duncan
Several people have inquired about subscribing to a fund to honour Dr Duncan on his retirement. To this purpose, an account has been opened at the Clydesdale Bank (both at Culter and Cults) and it is hoped that anyone who donates to this fund will append his/her name to a list, which will be available at the counter at the bank. In this way, Dr Duncan will have a permanent reminder of his many patients and friends. Drumoak Post Office also has a collection point for those living in that area. The account number is: 00336197 (sorting code 82 61 32) but staff at Culter and Cults Clydesdale Bank will know about the account.
