DEESIDE CHORISTERS

THE Candlemas Service in February ,went with a bang! In, case anyone didn't see the account in various newspapers (including some nationals) I can tell you that we took some singers down to St John's Church on 19 February for a service with 'Homelessness' as its central theme. Soon after they started singing a short anthem 'Bright Lights', there was a loud crash from the back of the church, followed by another a few seconds later. Fortunately the Choristers were not upset and continued until the end.

Headlines: 'Choristers' singing brought the roof down!' A large chunk of plaster had fallen from the ceiling and, although nobody was hurt, an extensive project of repair has been put in hand.

This term we shall sing Choral Evensongs on the second Sundays of May and probably June at St John's (6.30pm) and at Pluscarden Abbey, Elgin at 6pm on the last Sunday in August. There are 55 singers at present, so we are able to tackle more demanding music.

We hope to have a sale of goods (no clothes, please) some time in early autumn. If you are tidying your loft and find saleable things - ornaments, bric-a-brac etc. please give us a call - We can collect them near the time. Thank you.

Our 'new' photocopier is a huge success. If you would like anything done, long or short runs, we charge 4p per sheet of A4 (6p per sheet both sides). Other sizes of paper or coloured paper separately charged.
