POLICE NEWS

WELL, Happy New Year. If you're anything like me you'll be glad it's all past-The main reason for that is my kids kept their word and bled me dry by Christmas Day. I can't complain though. I did get a rather sporty pair of socks for all my efforts".

It has to be said that things have been fairly quiet in the area throughout the past few months. Two break ins to garages in Culter, with nothing of any consequence being stolen. Five cars have been broken into resulting in the car stereos being stolen as well as items left in open view.

In an effort to tackle this problem, which has impacted more so in the Cults/Bieldside area, Kevin and I have arranged for a Police Operation to be carried out over the weekend of 25-28 January 2002. Again, I will update on any result in the future.

As regards any youth problems, again quiet, but as mentioned in previous letters/ we are in discussion with other agencies with a view to giving consideration to youth shelters. We are still at a very early stage with this, but we will keep you informed of any progress.

Some of you may be aware that the Community Objectives discussed at the Community Seminar last November, asked that we continue to tackle road safety issues/illegal parking etc. as well as youth problems. It's in the pipeline that Kevin and I be trained up by the Traffic Department in the use of Speed Radar guns (unfortunately they don't come with fancy looking holsters) which will enable us to take to upsetting speeders in our area, This will be in addition to what the Traffic Department is doing. So watch out.-.!

Finally we've been asked by our equestrian friends in the area, to repeat their (and our) requests that road users show consideration whenever encountering riders, i.e. slowing down and leaving plenty of room to pass by them.

That's all meantime, but should you wish to discuss any Police matter affecting our area, please feel free to get in touch with either Kevin or me.
