PETERCULTER PATIENT PARTICIPATION GROUP

THE PPPG held its last meeting on 10 April 2001 in the Village Hall when there was a talk by a speaker   from   the Grampian Health Board on    communicable diseases affecting children. This coincided with the 5th Annual General Meeting of the Group when a call was made for new volunteers to join the Committee replacing those who had served since 1995.

It was hoped that members of the Practice living in the community would contact us with a view to enlarging and eventually replacing the long standing committee. As this has not happened, the members of the committee will be standing down this year as was agreed at the last AGM. This means that the Group's future will be in doubt unless new members can be found. To formalise this action it is proposed to hold an Extraordinary General Meeting in the Village Hall in late March 2002. This will be advertised through the village stores and library,

Over the past six years the Group has contributed to the Medical Centre in providing the children's play station, the Who's Who Board, a set of videos on health matters for patients to borrow, a TENS machine for patients' use. the daily Press and Journal in the waiting room, as well as other smaller items.

The Group has organised open meetings and arranged for speakers to address issues of general health interest to all age groups and, when funds allowed, made contributions to appropriate organisations, the money being raised from raffles at the meetings.

While the members of the Committee regret standing down, they feel the time has come for a change. At the meeting in March, it will be decided to terminate the Group unless a new committee can be formed.
