DEE-CIDERS WALKING GROUPDECEMBER was a funny month with regards to weather. Luckily our walks were scheduled for the beginning of the month - had we arranged to walk at the end of the month well that would have been a different story! We enjoyed a walk round the Boultenstone area at the beginning of the month and ended our year with a trek up Kerloch- Much 'pechin and gruntin' could be heard echoing round the hillside as we slowly made our way to the top but my! it was worth it to see the stunning scenery. Not a body complained and spirits were certainly high - might this show of enthusiasm have been brought on by the thought of our Christmas party after the walk? We finished our walk in good time and made our way to the Irvine Arms to be warmly welcomed as usual. What can I say about 'the party' that has not already been said in previous years? The food was excellent and the service was beyond expectations! I only hope the staff have recovered from the 'din'- We enjoyed our annual quiz game and as usual there was a rumpus with shouts of 'cheats' and 'we demand a recount of the score' - who said it would be a friendly game? Anyway we reluctantly made our way home with friendly festive wishes echoing in our ears. My it was grand day to remember. Our new year started with an unofficial walk round Durris Forest. Those brave enough met up and, despite some icy conditions, enjoyed a lovely sunny day's outing. Back to No 10 in Banchory for coffee/scones and some more 'deck' - it was great to be back! We hope the weather will be kind to us for the next few months and allow us to keep on the move. Yvonne Morrison
