CCC NEWS

THE Chairman of the CCC wishes all a very successful 2002 and may it be a safe and healthy one. So far I believe there will be many who wish the snowwould take itself off to the Ski Slopes and make the Skiers happy.

I will repeat what I said last year. CCC cannot survive without the help of the local community, and would not be in existence without the volunteers who give their time throughout the year.

May I also repeat, thank you for those who came to talk to us and please remember that we do listen, and sometimes get results.

Your CCC is sorely in need of help at the moment - we are in a very serious position as our Treasurer Team is leaving, which leaves our Council and our Gala without support. Is there anyone out there who feels he/she could fill the gap?

Your Community Council is continuing to try to get support from the "City" even against what appears to be many 'upsets', and I thank the members for their support over the last year.

SECRETARY'S REPORT

MUCH of the discussion at CCC meetings has been about the sale of the Gordon Arms Hotel and the repercussions for the village. (See Planning in the following article.)

On a happier note, the CCC meeting on 10 December was held at the Hall as we needed more space. After a shorter-than-normal meeting, we welcomed the people who distribute the Couriers throughout the area. As we have said so many times, we are very grateful to this band of volunteers who make sure you are reading the Courier as soon as

possible after we receive them from the printer. Unfortunately we had not done our homework properly and this event dashed with the Carol Service arranged by Peterculter Parish Church. We'll check it out for next time.

A photographer/reporter from Deeside Piper came along and the picture was in the Piper that week. The words accompanying were not strictly true as it appeared that this was the first time that Culter Community Council had opened its meeting to the public. As we try to make clear, every meeting of Community Councils is open to the public- It does assist us in timing, etc. if we have been given previous notice that you will be along for a specific reason i.e. planning problems, concerns about roads, parking, etc. but you are welcome to just pop in to the 'Pop-in' at any of our meetings,

You never know, you may be hooked and stay with us!

Several areas of Culter are not represented at all on CCC, It was always hoped that someone would come forward from Millside/Kennerty and Dalmaik/Hillside, and it is a few years since we had someone from Bucklerburn, In particular it would be great to have some younger people taking part in this vital part of Culter life. Any member of CCC will be pleased to hear from you - come along and try it out.
