PETERCULTER PARISH CHURCHMAY 15th is the start of Christian Aid week and collectors will be coming round the doors to raise money for this charity. Last year, in Culter alone, we raised £4,000 which is a tremendous tribute to the generosity of local residents. We will focus on Christian Aid at our service on May 15th. This Sunday is also Pentecost Sunday when we celebrate the birth of the Christian Church. At l0am we will have a short outdoor service in the church car park at which balloons will be released to represent God's Holy Spirit. The normal service will follow at 10.30am. On Saturday May 21st from l0am - 12noon we will be holding a Plant Sale organised by our Flower Committee. A large selection of plants and flowers will be available. On Saturday May 28th, three members of the church will be representing us at a major event in Edinburgh - a day of National Celebration for the Church of Scotland. They will then be reporting back on their experiences at a special service called WOW Sunday, along with hundreds of other representatives throughout Scotland. This year our Summer Fayre will take place on Sunday June 11 th from 2pm - 4pm. A varied selection of stalls will be available and tickets for the event can be purchased at the door. Tea/coffee will also be available throughout and we hope that it will be a fine sunny day! If you would like to donate goods for this, then please contact Richard Little on 733166. You may have heard by now that our neighbouring congregations of Cults East and West have united to become Cults Parish Church. The worship centre will be on the former West site and it is hoped that a brand new Outreach Centre will be built on the former East site. The new church has now begun the task of finding their first minister. Our monthly lunches continue on the first Wednesday of every month, which means that the next one is on June lst, after which there will be a break in July and August. Numbers grew from 13 at the first lunch to 50 at the second! The cost is £2.50 for two courses and it is open to EVERYONE in the community. Our Thursday and Saturday coffee mornings continue until Saturday June 4th and Thursday June 30th, after which there will be a break for the summer. John Ferguson. |
