EASTER ANGUSTON FARM TRAINING CENTRE For Adults with learning disabilities this year's plant sales kick off with our Open Weekend on the 14th& 15th of May. The staff and the lads are already working very hard to make sure everything is ready for then. This year's weekend will have a horticultural theme and we are pleased to be running a Gardeners' Question Time, tickets for which will be available on both days. We are hoping that many of our visitors will come along with questions, queries and perhaps even some plant specimens for the esteemed panel of notable North East Gardeners. Along with the question time we will have a wide variety of plants for sale including bedding plants, basket and tub plants, perennials and herbs all of which are grown here at the farm so they are all top quality and are properly hardened off before we sell them. The range of plants we grow increases every year and we now grow and sell local provenance wild flowers. This has proved to be a very popular range and has the added benefit of helping to conserve some of our specialized native species. For those amongst us who take a more "deckchair" approach to their gardens, we will also be selling ready-planted hanging baskets and tubs for that instant effect. Along with the plants we will be running farm tours for the duration of the two days, the tours go around all our nature trails, ponds and wildlife corridors and allow visitors to see the extent of conservation work that has been done at the farm. Of course there will be a lot more to see and do including stalls, teas and coffees and all our friendly farm animals to meet. Our plant sales continue 7 days a week after the open weekend. From the end of June we will also have a selection of P Y O fruit e.g. strawberries, rasps & currants - we all look forward to seeing you there!
