WE ARE now into the second half of the year and we have had a
really good variety of speakers.
September:
Mr Fred Bull talked, and sho~tie~ s~5des,of Aberdeen-nethere but
in all parts of the world. Mr Bull has written a book on this subject and it has
proved very successful.
October.
Miss Catherine Taylor, from Central Library, also had Aberdeen as
her subject but this time it was our own Aberdeen, mostly in bygone times. It
was amazing (and sometimes disheartening) to see the changes that have come
about in the centre of our city.
November:
Mr Paul Smith, butcher from Skene, explained about the different
cuts of beef. We came away more knowledgeable than when we arrived. There truly
is a knack in preparing meat for our tables.
December:
We had a very enjoyable Christmas meal at the Old Mill Inn,
Maryculter.
January:
Mrs Eileen Morrison entertained us with a Musical Evening, which
was really enjoyed by all members.
At our May meeting, it is hoped to hear about the work of the Red
Cross, the members of which have been even busier for the past few months with
the disaster on Boxing Day.
Our meetings are held on the lst: Thursday of the month in the
Playgroup Room of the Community Centre, North Deeside Road. We would welcome any
new members to our group.
