A Vision For Culter
'"A VISION FOR CULTER" -
Planning for Real Exercise, 2 October 2004
(Planning for Real)FOLLOW
UP EVENT
A FOLLOW up to the Vision
for Culter event held in October took place on Saturday 15th January. The aim of
the event was to prioritise the issues raised in October for inclusion in the
Neighbourhood Community Action Plan.
As the new Neighbourhood
Community Planning Officer with responsibility for Culter, I had been in post
only a week so found the event extremely helpful in familiarising me with the
area, its people and its needs.
The event was well
attended and 278 responses were made around six topics. By far the largest
response - 101- related to traffic and transport. The main concerns are:
• speeding (in particular
on Malcolm Road);
• the number of heavy
goods vehicles travelling through the village;
• improving the junction
of Malcolm Road and North Deeside Road;
• lack of car parking
facilities in the village;
• the general condition of
Malcolm Road.
The other priorities
highlighted were: • the local provision of evening classes;
• the lack of a swimming
pool in the village;
• preserving the Green
Belt;
• addressing dog fouling,
specifically on Station Brae and Shoddy Road;
• the imminent lack of an
NHS dentist;
• the waiting
time for speech therapy; • the need for sheltered housing.
A report will
be produced detailing the outcomes from the event.
