Village Hall News
ON behalf of CDCA I would like to thank committee members Jan
Murphy Dawn MacKinnon and Paul Anderson for organising this year's first ever
Hogmanay party held at the village hall. It was a great success and raised
nearly £267 for hall funds. We have decided to hold another one next year.
Please look out in the November edition of the Courier for details. The event
also raised money for the Tsunami appeal.
DID YOU KNOW THAT YOU OWN THE VILLAGE HALL?
IT IS NOT A COUNCIL RUN COMMUNITY CENTRE.
The annual AGM of the village hall will be held on Monday 21st
March at 7.30pm in the main hall. This meeting is open to all residents of
Peterculter and we urge you to attend, especially if you are a representative of
one of the groups which uses the hall.
Each and every one of us Culter residents has a stake in what
happens
to this excellent facility Please attend the meeting and have your say. Everyone
is welcome.
On Saturday 23rd April, CDCA committee will be holding its annual
Cabaret Night. As usual, high quality entertainment will be provided. The
evening consists of a three-course supper, interspersed with a variety of
sketches and musical numbers. The evening ends with a disco. You can book your
table for this event, at a cost of £15 per person, from Alison Skinner.
The hall is looking for wardens to work evenings and weekends at
the hall. This is a job which would suit a student, aged 17 and over, or a
retired person looking for a small part time job. If you are interested in
finding out more about the job, please contact Alison Skinner on 734371. We
offer good hourly rates of pay and flexibility to suit your own timetable.
All hall activities are now back to normal after the Christmas
break, but don't forget, if you want to book the hall for your function, please
call Alison on 734371. We offer very competitive hourly rates for community
based activities, as we only aim to cover our running costs. We also have had
weddings, ceilidhs, birthday parties, sales of work, roller discos and many
other functions.
Susan Chappell-Smith
President.
