Heritage Trust

THE Heritage Centre is looking forward to many more visitors this year. There are a number of new displays including a wide-ranging display of memorabilia from Culter School - this will be of particular interest to former pupils. Also a display showing the children's concerts that took place in the village hall organised by Arthur McFarlane. Please come and identify yourself in one of the many photographs!

Over the last few months Rob Roy has been internally restored through the services of James Milne and Ian Middleton of the Balmoral Group. This voluntary contribution is much appreciated. Currently Rob Roy is now receiving a full paint, and restoring the statue to pristine condition; this work is being carried out by Danny Laing with students from Aberdeen College.

Teas in the Hall restart from Sunday 6th February and will operate each weekend from 2 to 4p.m. throughout the year. There are now many regulars - we would like to see more!

Three events planned over the next two months are:

l. Music for a Sunday afternoon with Susan Simpson and friends being held on 20th February. Come and listen to some pleasant music and have a cup of tea/coffee.

2. Talk by Dr John Reid of Aberdeen University on Victorian Industry in Lower Deeside. This is being held on Friday 25th February at 7.30p.m. Tickets £3 will be on sale from the Heritage Centre or available at the door on the night.

3. Slide Show by Andy Hall "A sense of Belonging" on Friday 11th March at 7.30p.m. This is a must and shows slides selected by famous Scottish people of their favourite place in Scotland. Tickets priced £3 will be on the sale from the Heritage Centre or at the door on the night.

The Heritage Hall is not used during the day but the Committee would like to see it more widely used by the community. Also Wednesday evenings are now free. If you are interested in hiring the Hall, please contact John Troup. Tel 732701
