CCC Planning

FOLLOWING on from my previous reports, I have to tell you that:

• Permission has been given for a Cattery to be added to the Equestrian Centre at Upper Anguston.

• The application to build a house in the garden of 105 Malcolm Road has been refused.

• Kelly's of Cults had applied for - and been granted - permission to extend their cafe into the flat next door with a condition applied that sufficient sound-proofing was included so that adjoining households were not disturbed.

One planning application we have recently objected to was for outline planning permission to replace Rob Roy Caravan Park with approximately 100 houses. The members of Culter Community Council objected because it was against the Structure Plan and the existing, and proposed, Local Plans but mainly because Culter Primary School and Cults Academy are already at capacity and could not cope with that many extra pupils. Neither could our roads cope with that number of extra cars.

There are no new developments on the proposed Local Plan to be reported as yet. The planning officials are still working their way through all the objections that we made. It is expected that by March they should be announcing what the next steps will be towards a Public Enquiry to deal with these. There should be more detailed information in the next issue of the Courier in May.

Finally I would like to congratulate the residents of 37 Pittengullies Brae on their flourishing hedge. Why? Because about two years ago they were refused planning permission to put up a wooden fence alongside the path down to the river. It had been a condition of allowing the building of the houses on Moncur's old yard that only hedging could be used alongside the path, along the riverbank and, in fact, all round the site. The hedge at No-37 seems to be growing and thickening up nicely, giving the residents the privacy they wanted and the walkers something much more pleasant than a fence to look at.
