Culter Pipe Bands
THE bands have just
restarted practising for next season on Mondays and Wednesdays at the Mill Club.
We are now ready to start any new beginners who wish to learn to play the pipes
or drums. If you are interested then come along to the Mill Club on a Monday or
Wednesday at 7:15 pm. Learners groups normally practise from that time until 8
pm. Prospective beginners should ideally be 8 - 10 years old but can be older.
Both bands had a long
season playing most weekends from May through to mid September. We didn't have
much success on the competition field but both bands were made up of mostly new
members and will have gained valuable experience which will stand them in good
stead for next season.
The highlights for the
47th Culter BB Pipe Band were:
• Winning the Pipe Contest
Class at the Scottish Boys Brigade Band Contest;
• Best novice band at
Aberdeen Games and
• Finishing 16th out of 23
at the World Championships in Glasgow -
- not bad considering 90%
of the band were competing in their first season.
The highlights for Culter
& District were:
• Winning grade 3 at
Aberdeen games and 3rd place in grade 2 at Mtintlaw.
• They also won the
drumming in grade 3 at Mintlaw which meant they won the North of Scotland
Champions of Champions Trophy for drumming.
Finally, a very big
thank-you to all the residents of Culter who generously donated money as we
played round the streets of Culter during early September. We raised a total of
£1097. Thank you.
