Culter Football Club
Deserved Draw: In a
prestigious preseason friendly, Culter staged a remarkable recovery to achieve
a creditable draw against the OVD Scottish Cup Holders - Carnoustie Panmure - at
Crombie Park. Culter trailed 0-2 at the interval but second half goals from Mike
Fraser and Alan Grant earned a merited draw.
Grill Games: The local
Season commenced with the Grill League Cup Competition. Culter beat Dufftown and
Lads Club (7-0 and 4-0 respectively) but lost 3-1 to Longside who pipped us by
one point to win Section 1.
Flag Flown: Culter's new
Printagraph Super League 2003/2004 Championship Flag was unfurled on Saturday 2
October 2004, and flown in sunshine to mark last season's magnificent
achievement. Thanks went to 'Kip' McKenzie for producing the artwork and to Doug
Grant for arranging for the flag's provision.
League Lapses: Defending
Super League Champions, Culter, is the team everyone wants to beat. Last
season's runners-up, Sunnybank, inflicted a 1-0 defeat at Heathryfold then lowly
Wilson's XI shocked Culter with a 3-1 win at Keith Park. Culter also went down
by the only goal of the game against Banks o' Dee at Crombie Park. We won the
other five games to be still in the table top half.
Committee Changes: We were
sorry to report that Barrie Gammack resigned from the Committee in September but
he is to continue with his good Lottery sales and will be there to support his
team when he is available. On the other hand, we were pleased to welcome regular
supporters Mario DiMaio and Frank Watt on to the committee. Mario and Frank
already had been helping the Club with excellent Lottery sales.
Peter's Prize: Local man,
Peter Allan, scooped our record breaking Lottery Prize of £4,000 outright on 16
October 2004.
October Occasions: During
October 2004, there was a series of special birthdays for Culter FC members.
• Doug Grant,
(Vice-President, Team Secretary and SJFA/NRJFA Correspondent) was 50 on the 4th;
• Gordon Morrison (Senior
Committee member & Lottery Treasurer) celebrated his 80th birthday on the 9th;
• Margaret Davidson
(Honorary Vice-President) & twin brother Stuart (Team Scout) were 50 during a
weekend break in Barcelona.
Dinner Date: Our Celebrity
Dinner XIX takes place in the Dyce Skean Dhu on Friday 12 November 2004. The
Guest Speaker will be Dick Campbell, Manager of Brechin City, who comes highly
recommended. The Comedian is Patrice, with his own brand of local humour -
regular listeners to Northsound will be familiar with his material. Peter
Mitchell, Press & Journal columnist, the dozen of Master of Ceremonies duties,
is welcomed back, as usual, to front our evening.

New Committee Members:

joining the Committee.
Editor: The Celebrity
dinner will be past before most people read this article. Hope it was a
successful evening and not too many sore {reads next day. As if!!!
