CULTER PLAYGROUP
THE autunm term is now into
full swing. There are nearly 50 children spread over three groups. Our ‘Rising
5s’ group for children in their pre school year currently has three vacancies.
(Contact Playgroup for details.)
The new ‘baby’ group of 21
/ 2-3 year olds looks so cute - especially those still waddling about in big
padded nappies! Our able playleaders, Sheena, Sheila and Jane, are introducing
them to colours as their first theme. Already the walls of Playgroup are well
decorated with all their handpaintings etc. The Playleaders spend a lot of time
patiently teaching the wee ones the basic rules of social interaction - this may
be the first time some of them have been away from home and in a group setting.
Thanks to the wonderful dry and
sunny weather, all the children have enjoyed extra outdoor playtimes in the
Ross
Watt
Memorial
Garden
this year.
We were amazed (and humbled) to
raise the £10,000 required to save the Playgroup so quickly. Thanks to you, our
friends in the community, who made the recommencing of the 2003/ 04 year
possible.
A new committee has taken over
the reins and the members are relieved to find fundraising is a far less onerous
task than last year’s dedicated band of Mums and Dads did.
Our older group of children (31
/2 - 4 years) are to have an extra Christmas treat in the form of a trip to see
‘The Happy Gang’ at the theatre. As in previous years, we are sure the ride
in the big coach will prove to be just as exciting (if not more so) than the
show itself.
