ST PETER'S HERITAGE TRUST

IT IS the first chance I have had to tell you about our visit to the Royal Garden Party hosted by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth at Holyrood Palace in Edinburgh . Both Miss Violet Smith and I were selected by Culter Community Council to represent Peterculter. Not only was it quite an honour, but it was a day to remember and we both enjoyed it very much. The glorious weather was one of the outstanding features.

As the year moves on after a wonderful summer, the Heritage Centre keeps growing. The success of our afternoon teas/coffees every Saturday and Sunday is thanks to the team of ladies and gentlemen who give of their time on a voluntary basis. This is much appreciated, but we urge more people to come on down between 2pm and 4pm and enjoy some good home baking.

In September we had an evening of ‘Music and Verse’ which was well supported and enjoyed by all who attended. Thanks to all who played a part - Bill Simpson who was the person who put it all together; Susan Simpson and her music group: those who read poems by the late John Clark, Builder of Cairn Road, Peterculter, as well as poems written by me.

As regards the centre, it is still adding to its collection and is always appreciated by our visitors who come from near and far.

Outside the Hall there has been a general tidy up and a brand new fence has been erected. Thanks are due to Tim Ramseyer, Wayne Billsborrow, John Mearns and John Troup. Well done!

To date, all our work has been voluntary and our fundraising well spent. Thanks you to all who have supported us along the way. To others who wish to support us, membership is available, give a donation, or you may have an idea to

help us raise money to make the centre a place that, in time to come, people will be proud of.

Hall Convener:

The Good news to report is that the long awaited improvements to the toilet, and an entrance suitable for the disabled, will soon he starting. This will make a vast improvement to the Hall and hopefully, when this work is finished (and we have found some money) the kitchen will be upgraded.

The Hall needs to be used much more, particularly during the day. If any local organisation wishes to find out about use and charges, please contact John Troup. Remember we have very good car parking facilities
