PETERCULTER GOLF CLUB
WE HAVE come to the end of a
very successful summer season for Peterculter Golf Club (PGC). Winter golf
starts in November and both members and visitors are welcome to come and enjoy
the course when it is not raining or snowing! The views of the hills and the
River Dee are quite spectacular on crisp clear days. We hope to stay on the
summer greens as much as possible, but frost will dictate the use of winter
greens and the course may be closed early morning until the frost has lifted a
little. To protect the fairways, golfers will be required to lift their ball and
drop in the light rough throughout the winter period.
The greens staff will be busy
on a fairly extensive programme of work on the course to ensure that it is in
tip top condition for next year.
On the social side, I’d like
to remind members of the quiz night on Friday 28th November (sign up sheet is on
the social notice board); the Christmas party/disco on Saturday 13th December
(tickets available from the bar); and the hangover golf game and entertainment
on Friday 2nd January. We are also holding a Burns Supper on Saturday 24th
January so make a note of that date. Last year we had a very successful Burns
Supper and we expect demand for tickets to be high.
We are always looking for new
members so if you are new to the area or new to golf then you should consider
joining PGC. Currently there is a short waiting list and interested parties who
sign up this year are likely to be invited to join in 2004. For more information
about the club, you can visit the website, www.petercultergolfclub.co.uk or go
up to the club and see for yourself.
